FurPals N Critter Sitters encourages pet owners and pet lovers alike to celebrate the 21st annual Professional Pet Sitters Week, March 1-7, 2015. Professional Pet Sitters Week™ (PPSW™) was introduced by Pet Sitters International (PSI) in 1995. This international week of recognition seeks to educate pet owners about the advantages of using professional pet sitters.
This year, PSI member business, Shawnna Silvius of FurPals N Critter Sitters, is commemorating Professional Pet Sitters Week by donating 50% of profits and 100% of all tips for the week to Homeward Bound Companions, a forming Nebraska Nonprofit Rescue Organization she is helping to establish along with a nine-member board of directors. Homeward Bound Companions serves surrendered, homeless, lost, found, neglected, and abused animals in Nebraska City and the Otoe County Area and provides them with medical care and permanent re-homing options.
“FurPals N Critter Sitters is committed to providing the best quality service to our pet-owning clients and is excited to celebrate this week that recognizes the pet-sitting industry on a global scale. With pet ownership at a record high, the need for pet-care services is greater than ever before,” says Silvius.
“The pet-sitting industry has grown significantly over the past two decades. With the growth of the industry, it’s important for pet owners to seek out the services of professional pet sitters,” says Patti Moran, president of PSI. “Professional pet sitters maintain insurance and bonding, provide proof of a clear criminal history and take advantage of continuing education to ensure they can offer the best possible care to clients’ pets.”
“These professional businesses owners and their staff sitters truly deserve recognition for the optimal pet care and tireless efforts they provide year-round,” added Moran.
PSI is the world’s largest educational association for professional pet sitters. Since 1994 PSI’s membership has grown to nearly 7,000 independent professional pet-sitting businesses that service more than 740,000 pet-owning households each year.
FurPals N Critter Sitters has been a member of PSI since 2014 and offers services to pet owners located within a 25-mile radius of Nebraska City. FurPals N Critter Sitters is Licensed, Bonded, Insured and Background Check Approved.
For pet owners, at-home pet sitting provides a unique alternative to boarding facilities or having to rely on family and neighbors to care for their pets. Pet sitting goes beyond simply feeding and checking on pets. Professional pet-sitting services often include midday potty breaks, dog walking, care of special needs pets, pet transportation services, in addition to basic pet care. Silvius also waters household plants, puts out trash, brings in the mail and newspaper, and other household chores to simplify departing preparation for clients.
Silvius invites anyone interested in learning more about the advantages of hiring a professional pet sitter to visit the FurPals N Critter Sitters website at www.FurPalsNCritterSitters.com. To learn more about PPSW and how you can participate, visit the PSI website, www.petsit.com.
